I'm working away in the office... minding my own business, and trying to figure out how I'm going to bide my time to make it through five more days. When Dan Bauer, the publicity guru extrordinaire comes into my office and tells me I should get a copy of today's Trenton Times. I figure he's showing me another review or story on Hamlet. Then I do a double take, because the person in the picture he's showing me is me! I didn't recognize my own self. How crazy is that? If you want to read the whole article, I've posted pictures of it on Flickr (just click on the picture below and it should be easy to figure out from there.) I'm semi-famous!

John Kander was just sitting in my chair. He's hanging out in the theater all week and I'm housemanaging the reading/presentation of his new musical Skin of Our Teeth next week. I'm sitting in the butt warmth left by genius in my chair at my desk. eeee!

Now, if you don't know who John Kander is... never fear... I will inform. He's the composer in the musical team of Kander & Ebb. Famed for such little known musicals as Cabaret, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Chicago. Hee. Anyone want to touch my butt?

I'm directing again!

Granted, its just a ten minute play. But after a year of fetching coffee, being on-book, and helping other directors fulfill their vision, I am once again at the helm of my own teeny-tiny little boat. What, you might be asking, am I directing? As part of McCarter's Education Department's Young Playwright festival, I am directing a piece called Prophylaxis: A play for the ladies [On sex and chess] by Ben Warren. Not only does it have a great title, but its a fabulous one-man (almost) show. We've just had a week of rehearsals, a day or two of tech, and then a week of performances. It's fast satisfying theater. Yay!

Even more amazing is that I've only got 15 days left in Princeton. I've been here since last August, and this year has just sped by. So much has changed, hell... After my trip to Alaska and Southern Illinois I'm going to be moving in with my boy. How crazy is that? In love and living together. Gah. What am I... becoming an adult? Ick. Well, I do drink coffee now, which I always saw as something adults did. So... maybe I've caught up with my age. Nah... I still like sesame street, I still always try to stay up past my bedtime and I still like splashing in puddles. Whew.

On to a new topic. TV. I don't watch regular television anymore. I have fully discovered, through my beloved Netflix, the joys of TV on DVD. No commercials, whole seasons watched over the span of a couple weeks, pausability. It's all good except for when everyone around me is gearing up for the season five premier of Six Feet Under and I'm barely halfway through season three. Ahh well.
