Job Update: I was third (out of fifty) for the position with the Attorney General's Office. The library job I was applying for looked absolutely hideous and it ended September 30th anyway. The Anchorage Opera is also a no-go because the person currently in the position I was applying for decided not to leave. So I am perpetually in the land of Probation and Parole. But, this means I still have health insurance, an okay wage, and some personal leave.
Play Update: INSANITY and NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS should be the title of this play. Not Oliver Twist. My costume designer, the fabulous and talented Sarah, is having a seriously depressive episode and had to withdraw from her duties. So, we're going with blacks and scarves. whee! One actor, not a very good one, decided he didn't have to come to rehearsal for five days straight. One phonecall on the third day about car problems. We cut him and the character. He shows up after his character has been cut for 3 days, shocked and surprised that he's no longer in the play. Music has been added to the show. I knew it was going to be added eventually, but its like a real musical, we've got 10 songs for God's sake. New act II handed out last weekend, and final cuts/edits being distributed this weekend. We have exactly 13 rehearsals left. And I'm terrified this thing isn't just going to bomb, its going to be so bad people are going to start laughing. Well, that's probably preferable to blank stares of boredom. I had to take a day off from work yesterday just to regain some mental sanity.
Life: My sister comes home from her year in Pennsylvania this Saturday. I love the girl, but I'm not sure how well we'll get along because I have a feeling she'll want to use my internet connection and computer and DVD's all the time and that'll annoy the piss outta me on days when I'm having problems at work or the theater and we'll just scream and yell and I'll start password protecting everything. I'll feel like a childish imbecile but won't be able to help myself. Or, hell, maybe we'll get along great and bond.
Whatever happens, I know I am going to enjoy the summer. I want to go the the YMCA bike auction on Saturday and maybe get myself a bike with a comfy seat that I can ride around town, take to Valdez, and just enjoy. I'm also thinking of getting a membership at the Y. It'd only be $40/month and I could go swimming every morning before work. That would rock. I love swimming more than any other exercise on the planet. mmmmm. Swimming. I also want to play Frisbee Golf, go hiking with Matt and Becky, maybe go camping with friends. Roadtrip to fairbanks to see the Shakespeare crew. Ahh, so much to do and that means I don't want to get bogged down in another production after Oliver is over.
Oh yeah! the main reason I wanted to post a note today. I joined Yahoo personals months ago. I even have my picture up and everything. I'm not paying, just have the ad up. Well, after getting one response back in February I'd kinda given up on it without a paid membership. I even get a note from yahoo telling me that I would get more out of yahoo if I joined and blah blah blah spammy cakes. I was thinking about it, logged onto my personal ad account and BAM! There is a response from what appears to be a reasonable, intelligent, non-scary guy. Telling me that I sound too good to be true and would I like to go to an arthouse movie sometime. Whee! That felt good to read. I responded, and said sure, but not for a couple weeks (due to play issues taking up my time). I'm gonna have a date. hee. And whatever happens, at least it'll be a great excuse to go catch an art movie like I used to before I got tangled in this web of community theater angst.
As previously mentioned I took off of work yesterday for mental health reasons and I went shopping with me mum and bought some DVD's. Kristoph Kieslowski's Three Colors, Sport Night (the complete series) and Angel (Season One). PLUS I've borrowed Six Feet Under (season 1) from Krista and Absolutely Fabulous (season 1-3) from Frank. I'm in TV DVD heaven. DVD's are my favorite way to watch a TV show because I can watch them whenever I want, good quality and no commercials.
I also got my ScaredScriptless shirts made yesterday. I'm very happy with both of them. And Saturday is my next show! eek.
Just got off the phone with my sister Tina. She's a very good daughter, she's arranged and done everything for Mom's mothers day gift. I just have to sign a card, fork over some money, and chauffeur mom to her surprise. Mwuhahaha!
Alright, it is now time for lunch and mindless reading.
