Tee hee. This is my neighborhood. I've moved to Chicago. I'm engaged and pregnant. (For the few of you who may read my blog and not be aware of this fact) and I was thinking of my sister Lori as I journeyed to Borders the other morning to get the new Harry Potter book. I know how much she loves nifty architecture, and Chicago has a lot of it, so I took my camera along. Then, just a block or two down the street from my house, I saw this pretty apartment building with gorgeous flowers that made me think of Mom AND Lori. So, I snapped a picture. I was taking another picture from a different angle, and this lady stopped, put her hands on her hips and glared at me. I got my picture and continued walking down the street, merrily minding my own business. As I passed the lady she starts shouting/mumbling at me something along the lines of, "I wasn't waiting for you. Just so you know. I was NOT waiting for you. Get it?" It amused me to no end, and so... my first photographic and blog offering from the windy city is dedicated to the grumpy lady in front of the pretty building with lots of flowers.

Those are some very cool buildings! The stone church was beautiful. I wish Anchorage had any cool architecture at all. It's all just too damn "functional."

Things in alaska have to be functional. They've got earthquakes, crazy cold/heat differentials. And winter. I'm not so sure some of these very pretty buildings around my neighborhood will be very pleasant in winter once cold wind starts dominating the weather.
